how to make your computer browse faster

My computer is very slow" is a common complaint of Computer and Laptop owners.
PC and Laptops store a lot of information, most of which we are not even aware they stored. After a while your once swift pegasus (computer) becomes slow and dull. After using computers and laptops for many years, I have stated below things you need to do to make your computer faster.

* Spyware
Most computers are slow because of spyware. There are lots of programs to remove spywares. Some of these are:SUPERAntiSpyware, Ad-Aware and a host of others. Just googly it. They will scan and alert you on potential threats.

*De fragment your disk regularly
When a file is saved continuously on a system, it creates some gaps in the storage location between the "First Save" and the "Second Save". Click the "Start Menu" type "De fragment" in the Run space and complete the process.

*Wipe browser data
If you use google chrome or Firefox and other browsers of the same class, you will observe that when you start the browser, it opens all the pages you were last working on before the browser closed. Clear browser data by clicking "Control-Shift-Delete".

*Empty your Recycle Bin regularly
When ever you delete an item, it goes to the recycle bin except if you hold "Shift+Delete". After some time, the recycle bin size grows to a level that it begins to slow down your computer. Always check for files you may later need before emptying the recycle bin.

*Uninstall unused software
There are some softwares on our computers that you hardly use. May be we installed it because someone recommended it but have never used it. Some trial version software also come with registries, that is why if after the trial period, you uninstall and later install them they will refuse to work because there is a file telling them that the trial version was used on that computer before. Use "Revo uninstaller" to uninstall software's as it removes even the registry files.

*Format your computer
if after trying everything it is still slow, just make a back up of your important documents and format the system. You can then reinstall window or whatever operating system of your choice. It turns your system into a new one.

*Update all of your drivers
You should also set windows to update automatically "Windows update". (Check your control panel) This will upgrade your system whenever hot fixes and updates are available.

These are not all the tips you can use to increase the speed of your computer, I will be updating this list regularly. You can add some tips you use on your system in the comment form below.

what you should consider before buy a laptop computer

Before you start, you should know the following. the type laptop to buy from market, the  processing ram, the make of the laptop, the speed, the life spam of the battery etc of the laptop you which to buy. buy a new laptop can be confusing, with a seemingly endless list of specification to try compare between different models.
Unless you`re fairly experience with computers, you might not immediately know what represents a good CPU speed, RAM size, hard drive capacity and so on.
Throw in connectivity option like Bluetooth, Ethernet an Wi-Fi, and it certainly doesn`t get any easier.
one way to approach the process is by choosing a brand, and then working out what the best model in their rang is that suits your needs and budget. Here i can teach you what you need before buying a laptop.

Laptop Brands

Here are just a few of the most commonly seen brands, along with an idea of the use they are suited to.

Hewlett-Packard[HP]

Hewlett-Packard, or HP make some of the bestselling laptops in the world, and while they often carry a sizable price tag, they are also among the highest specification models available.
In particular, some HP laptops are capable of running, games with resource demanding graphics , which is relatively rare among laptops.
You can expect to pay a premium for one of these models, but if you want to play the latest games wherever you happen to be, it`s a price you`ll probably have to pay.

Asus

Asus is a brand that was not widely known until relatively recently, when compare with the electronic giants already named above.

Although it`s easy to view asus as a compromise brand for people on a restricted budget, the truth is that their laptop tend to offer a good balance of characteristics, at a compelling price point.

If you`re looking for excellent value for money , it`s worth looking at asus laptops to see whether they have a model that fits the bill. it mite stop short of the highest performing model currently on the market from other big brands but it`s unlikely to be far behind

Of course there are plenty of other brand to choose from. by knowing the personality of each manufacturer`s line-up, you can make it easier to choose the model that`s best for you.

Samsung

Samsung are particularly good at ultra portable computers, so look out for their net books rather than their laptop hard disk drive
compact but with good performance levels, sturdy physical construction and memory card slots rather optical CD or DVD drives, these are computing devices for people who are always on the move
again , Samsung typically deliver good battery lifespans, so you should be able to get plenty of use out of them between charges, although battery life always begins to suffer after extended use

Toshiba

Toshiba laptop are strong all round contender , the workhorses of the laptop world.
They typical offer a good compromise between all of the main specification, with decent-size hard disk drive, reasonable amount of RAM, and competitive battery life too.

3 Viable Steps You Can Use In Pulling Traffic

Blogging is all about getting traffic and actually converting them to sales,  as bloggers we all want to pull in an amazing traffic, I’m going to introduce you to how you can pull in a lot of traffic to your blog whether old or new, the steps has a lot to do with social media and some other tools I think you should see, with this steps I am going to write about I have been able to pull more than 100k impressions monthly on my 4 months old blog, it worked excellently.
Recommended Post: Easiest Ways To Get Blog traffic
Tool I Used
JustRetweet: With this tool I have been able to stake in an amazing number of traffic and have gained a lot of new blog readers and followers from Twitter. Justretweet is a platform where you can place your post url along with its title and have other justretweet members retweet it on their twitter page, it even has a feature where you can gain more likes for the post, I discovered this tool not so long ago and really it has helped me a lot. I had the likes of Miss Ileane Smith Of basicblogtips retweet my posts which was so amazing regarding her number of followers
Ileane Smith
I also had some pretty awesome bloggers retweet my post to their readers and in so doing I got quite a handful of their readers visiting my blog which in time some of them became my blog followers.
Justretweet Image
Trick I did
Getting Indexed by Google Fast: Another major step I took to get more traffic to my blog was getting my blog indexed by Google and some other search engines so I can get some organic traffic fast as soon as I had the post published, I always have my blog post indexed in less than 3 minutes of publishing it. Here’s how I do it: After Publishing my post I head over to a bookmarking website identi.ca and paste my url there, since it gets indexed every minute and is a do follow bookmarker Google see’s my links and crawls over to my blog to get post indexed, another step I took was to +1 the post as soon as I published it. Take for instance this post it’s already Google. Want extra traffic? Then always try to implement this step as soon you get your post published. You can also get a pretty number of pageviews from identi.ca since it’s a social bookmarking site where everyone online see’s your post.
Already Indexed
Organize Giveaways: I haven’t really done this one on my blog but from observations from some friend’s blog I have seen that it is very effective in getting a fair amount of traffic, Just imagine I had a giveaway ongoing and I have Ana Hoffman of trafficgenerationcafe retweet it to her followers. Normally everyone likes a freebie, there are a large number of people who search daily for giveaways and participate in it, and you can take that advantage and use it to get some pretty cool amount of traffic to your blog.
Giveaways
There are probably a million ways on how you can actually draw traffic to your blog but this steps are pretty amazing you should try them and also try to get a good and high Google Pagerank it would really help.

The challenges of business in nigeria and the way out

Business as we kwow very well is lucrative venture . The purpose of it is to maximize profit or for wealth acquisition . but unfoftuniaterly , it is a well known fact many individuais co-operate bodies have ventured into this field of endeaviour and ended up unsuccessful. we shall discuss the challenges associated with buniess and the way out of this menace in order to ensure a sound business management with itsd attendant profitability.
The challenges Are Out Listed as follows:
  1.   lack of planning
  2.  Many partakers over a particular product
  3.  Inadequate capital
  4.  Delay in clearing good at ports

i.    LACK OF PLANNING :
Planning is essential to ensure maximum  value for every money spent . But unfortuniately, many businessmen have little  or knowlege about the fact. There is a saying that goes like this"he who fails to plan , plan to fail". Truly, many trader who fail to plan have planned for failure.

A typical Nigeria businessman has little regard toward carrying out some reasearches at least to know the profitability of what he or she want to invest in, in a particular piot in time. The resultant consequence is indeed an absolute failure. Feasibilt study ensures effective planning. Feasibility study can help us to solve the following question.issues of  a particular
  (a) the .issues of  a particular commodity being marketable in a partical.
(b). who and who are the potential buyers.
the solution to these cllanges would help us to dispose easily of our good when we have acquired them.

ii. MANY PARTAKERS OVER A PARTICULAR PRODUCT:
As i have mentioned earlier, business for now is quite challenging, it is moving to the point where there are so many partakers unlike before when only few people were dealing in one particular vtrade or the other. Today there are are so many people, even to an extent  that foreigners from china in particular are coming here in Nigeria to market their goods inside the Nigeria market. This is because they think that business here is becoming lucrative , so that , becomes more challenging  for Nigeria . You see people closing thier shop , others resigning from the so called white collar job to go into any moving business like mobile phone, thinking that it is  the easiest way to make money . this does not help the situation , the phone industry is growing but the income is diminishing because so many people are partaking .
in fact the usual practice among many of our businessmen is to jump into a business of Mr A, so far he is marking it there. But sadly, they have little knowledge about the business.

Tthge solution is that governmet should understand the plight of businessmen in this nation . infact govt is not protected the intrest of businessman in this area they allow the influx of foreigner in the nation . foreigners should not just come into this nation , open up a bussiness and start running it without the necessary document . moreso, businessmen should have the absolute knowlege of the business they intend to do. Lastly the traders should earnestly ask the government to recognize any cogent association frontent by them.

iii. INADEQUATE CAPITAL:
Capital is explain as the total amount of money used to start a business. inadequate capital, on the other hand , is a situation whereby we have an insufficient amount of money to start a particular business. It is generally known that the higher you buy , the more likely you make less expenses and as such the cost price gets lower. Due to cost price gets lower. Due to inadequate capital, the reverse is always the case . As such we lose huge amount of money we would have accumulated had it been we had enough capital
the way out of this menace is that a business man with insufficient fund should start a pertinership business with some friends.

iv. DELAY IN CLEARING GOOD AT PORTS:\
The delay in clearing good at sea ports has strongly affected business in Nigeria. the slow peace of clearing good has contributed to the ports being flooded with backlog of containers,

Shekau and Jonathan :Boko Harm begs Nigeria for forgiveness, signs ceasefire deal

BREAKING NEWS: Boko Haram begs Nigerians for forgiveness, signs ceasefire deal

Shekau and Jonathan

“WE are seeking forgiveness from the people over the number of people killed in the country.

I appeal to those who lost their loved ones to our activities to forgive us and on our side we have forgiven all those who committed atrocities against us. I  want to state clearly that we have no hands in the unfortunate attack on the secondary school (Government Secondary School, Mamudo, Yobe State).”

With these words, Imam Muhammadu Marwana, an influential member of the Abubakar Shekau-led Boko Haram sect, yesterday, confirmed a ceasefire agreement with the Federal Government to end their deadly activities across most states of Northern Nigeria, which have claimed about 4,000 lives and destroyed properties worth billions of Naira since 2009.

The agreement came exactly 82 days after the Federal Government raised a 25-man committee to work out modalities for granting the amnesty to the sect.

Indeed, the Federal Government, yesterday, said that it had signed a ceasefire agreement with the militant group. Minister of Special Duties and Chairman of the Peace and Dialogue Committee in the North,  Alhaji Tanimu Turaki announced the ceasefire agreement on the Hausa service of Radio France International monitored in Kano.

The announcement came on the eve of  the Muslim Holy month of Ramadan expected to commence today throughout the world and also coincided with a vehement denial by the insurgents that they had no hands in the  murder of 30 boarding students of a secondary school in Yobe weekend.

Although details of the peace deal were scanty, Turaki who spoke in Hausa further said that the Boko Haram insurgents had agreed to lay down their arms.

“We have sat down and agreed that Jama’atu Ahlul Sunnah Lidda’awati wal Jihad, known as Boko Haram will lay down their arms as part of the agreement so as to end the insurgency. Government agreed with ceasefire and will look into ways to ensure that the troops relax their activities till the final take off of the ceasefire,” Turaki told his interviewers.

Confirming the truce, Imam Muhammadu Marwana said: “This ceasefire, in sha’Allahu, from the time I am talking to you (Radio France Hausa Service) we have ceasefire because of the discussion held so as to have peace over this struggle.”

The Boko Haram stalwart added that “we are seeking forgiveness from the people over the number of people killed in the country.

Sounding apologetic during the Radio news, Imam Marwana declared that “I appeal to those who lost their loved ones to our activities to forgive us and on our side we have forgiven all those who committed atrocities against us”

He added that “I want to state clearly that we have no hands in the unfortunate attack on the secondary school.”

How the agreement was reached
A member of the presidential committee, which President Godluck Jonathan gave 90 days to hammer out a solution to the problem told Vanguard how the agreement was brokered. He said “Shekau’s leadership came out through several fronts and set traps for us. The government gave them confidence, the confidence led to trust and they said they will call their men to cease-fire and they have done so.”

Mixed reactions trail move
Meanwhile, Nigerians have received news of the truce with cautious optimism

A step in the right direction—Gani Adams
National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, Otunba Gani Adams said it was a step in the right direction. Iin a telephone chat with Vanguard, he said: “It is a step in the right direction and I think from there, they will create room to dialogue with the Federal Government and state their position.
They cannot continue to waste lives just like that. I don’t know what they stand for but no matter what they stand for, their approach is wrong and deadly. Nobody in the world will support their struggle. But calling for a ceasefire will afford Nigerians the opportunity to know exactly what they want.”

Identity of the group should be ascertained — Afenifere
Also, Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere was of the view that the identity of the group calling for ceasefire should be ascertained. Speaking with Vanguard on phone, Afenifere’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr Yinka Odumakin said “We should be sure which of the Boko Haram sect is calling for a ceasefire. Is it a strategy to rule or what is it all about?
The identity of the group should be ascertained and its genuineness should be known before the Federal Government is taken off guard. Since emergency was declared in those three states (Yobe, Adamawa and Borno), the incidence of bombings has gone down but killings continue here and there. So, we must know how genuine the call is and the identity of the group calling for the ceasefire. Was it not Boko Haram that said it was the Federal Government that needed amnesty?”.

Govt should reciprocate —Balarabe Musa
In his reaction, former governor of Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa expressed optimism that the ceasefire will resolve the insurgency.
“We hope that the Federal Government will respond favourably and effectively to the ceasefire,” he said.

Committee should not concede unnecessarily—Frederick Fasehun
“Nigeria has been on the issue of amnesty for long and if they have agreed on a ceasefire, that is commendable. I see it as a roadmap to peace. I hope the committee does the follow-up to this very well. But the committee should go on with their negotiations and should not concede unnecessarily.”

Committee should go on with its mandate—Abubakar Tsav
Former Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, on his part said: “The development is very encouraging. I am happy about it and I commend the committee for doing a good job. The committee should go on with its mandate in order to achieve a lasting peace. The committee should be encouraged the more at this stage to conclude its job.”

FG must rise to the occasion—Arewa Youths
Commenting on the development, President, Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, Alhaji Yerima Shetima said in spite of the ceasefire, the Federal Government must address the issues that led to the insurgency.
Shetima said: “Whether they cease fire or not, the truth of the matter is that Nigerians must rise to the occasion. Last year, it was the same story we heard when they called for a ceasefire and still, they unleashed a lot of mayhem in Northern Nigeria.
Also, we must appreciate the fact that the whole of Northern Nigeria has been bastardised because everybody is now a member of Boko Haram. If they call for a ceasefire, what about the remaining factions? This does not mean that the Federal Government must go to sleep, the insurgency must be condemned totally.”

How sect’s activities assumed deadly dimension
THE Jama’atu Allus Sunnah Lilda wati Wal Jihad, also known as Boko Haram, (Western education is sin), came into existence in the 1960s but survived through the decades under various names.

However, it started drawing attention to itself in 2002, when Mohammed Yusuf became its leader. In 2004, it moved to Kanamma, Yobe State, where it set up a base called ‘Afghanistan’ from where it attacked nearby police stations, killing police officers.

In July 2009, the Nigeria Police started investigating Boko Haram, following reports that the group was arming itself. Yusuf, the leader and others, were arrested and on July 30, 2009 allegations were made that Yusuf was extra-judicially killed by Nigerian security forces after being taken into custody.
The development invigorated deadly clashes with Nigerian security forces and attacks on churches, public institutions and military facilities, among others, which have led to the death of about 3,500 people.

Litany of attacks Before the clashes, many Muslim leaders, and at least one military official, had warned the authorities about Boko Haram. Those warnings were reportedly ignored.

According to Human Rights Watch, between July and December 2010, at least 85 people were killed in some 35 separate attacks in four states in northern and central Nigeria, as well as in Abuja, the nation’s capital. Attacks attributed to Boko Haram in 2011 left at least 550 people dead in 115 separate incidents.

Between January and December 2012, Boko Haram-related attacks occurred in 14 of the country‘s 36 states, including all the 12 states that have already adopted Sharia Islamic law, Plateau State and in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Violence blamed on Boko Haram, which said it wants to create an Islamic state in Nigeria, has killed more than 900 people in 2012, in about 290 separate attacks in 12 north-eastern and central states, and Abuja, making 2012 the deadliest year since the group began its attacks in 2009. And in 2013, about 250 people have been killed in Boko Haram-related attacks and incidents.

The litany of attacks include those of the United Nations Office, Abuja, Police Headquarters, Abuja, the building housing ThisDay Newspapers, Sun Newspapers and Daily Trust in Abuja, St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Madalla, Niger State, Deeper Life Bible Church, Okene; Military Cantonment, Jaji, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office and other numerous security facilities, especially police stations.

The security agencies also went on counter-offensive arresting, detaining and in many instances, killing Boko Haram members and leaders.

Disturbed by the escalating violence many northern leaders and groups, including the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, urged government to dialogue with the group to end the killings.
A picture taken from a video distributed to journalists in recent days through intermediaries and obtained by AFP on March 5, 2013 reportedly shows Abubakar Shekau, the suspected leader of Nigerian Islamist extremist group Boko Haram, flanked by six armed and hooded fighters at an undisclosed place.

Last November, the group gave the government conditions for ending the hostilities. Acclaimed spokesman of the group, Abu Mohammed Ibn Abdulazeez, in a tele-conference with journalists in Maiduguri, stated that if the state and the Federal Government wanted the group to cease-fire completely, then former Borno State governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, must be arrested and prosecuted according to the laws of the land. He also said that the government should compensate the group and rebuild their places of worship which were destroyed during the 2009 uprising.

He pointed out that for dialogue to take place, it must be through the following elders: Dr. Shettima Ali Monguno; former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari; former Yobe State governor, Bukar Abba Ibrahim; Ambassador Gaji Galtimari and Barr Aisha Alkali Wakil and her husband, Barr Alkali Wakil, insisting that the dialogue must take place in Saudi Arabia.
Abu Abdulazeez also said that the group had mandated five members who are to mediate on their behalf; they include himself (Abu Mohammed Abdulazeez), Abu Abbas, Sheikh Ibrahim Yusuf, Sheikh Sani Kontagora and Mamman Nur.

Buhari later distanced himself from the group and the Federal Government said it could not negotiate with pre-conditions, thus the crisis festered. With the latest decision of the group to sheathe its swords, it is hoped that all stakeholders will play their required roles for normalcy to return to the country.

Porous ceasefire
However, a peace deal was brokered on January 28, 2013 after a marathon meeting between some leaders of the group, which has been terrorizing some states in the North, particularly Borno State, since July 2009, and the Borno State Government, led by Governor Kashim Shettima with other top government officials and religious leaders from the state in attendance.

The cease-fire came after a 42-month multi-pronged attack unleashed on the polity by the sect.
Briefing newsmen after the marathon meeting in Maiduguri, Sheikh Abu Mohammad Abdulazeez Ibn Idris, a commander of Boko Haram in-charge of North and Central Borno, said after due consultation with the leader of the sect, Shiekh Abubakar Shekau, as well as intervention and pleadings from respected individuals and groups in the state, we ‘’have all come to terms and agreed to lay down our arms.”

The Boko Haram Commander, however, insisted that government should immediately release all their members from custody unconditionally, re-build their places of worship and compensate them, among other demands.
Sheikh Abdulazeez said that, the sect observed that during the lingering insurgency, many Muslim women and children had suffered untold hardship, adding that, they also decided to lay down their arms for peace to reign in Borno State and the country at large.
“I am appealing and calling on all our members through this medium to lay down their arms henceforth, till further notice,” Abdulazeez stated.

However, a few hours after the cease-fire, a faction of the sect distanced itself from the peace-deal and accelerated its deadly attacks, which have claimed about 250 lives since then.

The search for peace took President Goodluck Jonathan to Borno and Yobe states last month. The series of parleys during the two-day visit did not yield amnesty as President Jonathan insisted that the Federal Government could not grant amnesty to ghosts. He urged leaders of Boko Haram to come out of their hiding and dialogue with government as was done in the Niger Delta before amnesty could be granted.

The matter was on the front burner this week following the exchange of brick-bat between Buhari and the Presidency. While Buhari accused the Presidency of being responsible for ‘political Boko Haram’ and should take responsibility for the escalating mayhem, the Presidency countered that Buhari was responsible because he threatened to make the country ungovernable if he lost the 2011 polls.

The government asked Buhari to act like a patriot and get Boko Haram leaders to embrace dialogue. Buhari refused and advised the government to carry its cross

Arsenal and Tottenham join the race to sign classy Italian defender

Manchester United, who have been tracking Italian defender Andrea Ranocchia for a while now, are set to be challenged for his signature by Arsenal and Tottenham, the Daily Express reports. Last month, the possibility of a double swoop on Inter Milan from the Manchester giants where they could also sign energetic midfielder Fredy Guarin was touted. However, with reports in Italy suggesting both Napoli and Juventus’ interest, Ranocchia to United appears anything but a done deal.
United are evidently on the lookout for a new defender, and Ranocchia’s consistency at the back for Inter has appealed to them. However, with Rio Ferdinand, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones having fine seasons, and Nemanja Vidic and Chris Smalling reliably solid when free from injury, it is slightly surprising that new manager David Moyes sees the need for another centre-back. At 25, though, Ranocchia perhaps represents the more experienced option to fill the void that the imminent retirement of Ferdinand will leave.
Despite the interest of these clubs, Inter owner Massimo Moratti remains adamant that the defender will stay at the club. It remains to be seen, how concrete the interest of Arsenal and Tottenham is. Both teams are a man short at the back with the Gunners having sent Djourou out on loan and Spurs having released Gallas, making them perhaps more desperate than United to land Ranocchia.

Wolves defender Richard Stearman looks set for Ireland switch

Richard Stearman looks set to become an Ireland international
Wolves defender Richard Stearman could be available to Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni next season.
Press Association Sport have reported that the FAI is in the process of completing the paperwork which will make the former England Under-21 international eligible for selection.
Stearman, who qualifies through his maternal grandparents, has previously spoken of his hope of winning senior international recognition with Ireland.
The 25-year-old told the East Anglican Daily Times in February: "It's in the process at the moment. I am gaining a passport and citizenship and hopefully that will be not far around the corner.
"All my family on my mother's side are Irish and I am looking to get on the international scene."
Trapattoni has cast the net wide in recent seasons in an attempt to increase the pool of players from which he can select.
Richard Dunne, John O'Shea, Sean St Ledger and Darren O'Dea have been his central defensive mainstays in recent seasons, but he is keen to blood younger players and Everton full-back Seamus Coleman and Wigan midfielder James McCarthy established themselves as regulars last season.
Stearman's club future is currently uncertain with Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy, who took him on loan from Wolves in January keen to make the reunion permanent after a successful spell at Portman Road.
However, the Black Country club are understood to have placed a £1million price-tag on the man they signed from Leicester in June 2008 with new manager Kenny Jackett attempting to convince him to remain at Molineux, where he has a year of his existing deal to run.

The West Germany legend says the attacker was right to choose Florence as his new home, and feels Italy remains an attractive destination for top-class footballers
Franz Beckenbauer has backed the decision of striker Mario Gomez to join Fiorentina from Bayern Munich.

Following the appointment of Pep Guardiola at Sabener Strasse, the Germany international opted to join the Serie A side for a reported fee of £14 million, and Beckenbauer feels the forward has made the correct choice.

"I think Mario Gomez has made the right decision," the 67-year-old told Sky Sport.

"Bayern Munich has an overbalance up front, and Guardiola prefers player types like Mario Gotze. Therefore it's important to separate."

And the 1990 World Cup winner is adamant Italy is still an attractive destination for ambitious footballers.

"When it comes to football, Italy is still a dreamland. Fiorentina certainly isn't a bad address."

Having fallen out of favour at the Aliianz Arena last term after losing his starting berth to Mario Mandzukic, Gomez is set to revive his career at Vincenzo Montella's side.

The 27-year-old, who joined die Roten from Stuttgart in a transfer worth €30m in 2009, appeared 115 times for the Bavarian giants, scoring 75 goals.

Barcelona considering making a mega money swoop on Chelsea

Spanish Giants Barcelona could turn their sights to plundering Premier League side Chelsea for a defender this summer with the Daily Mail reporting that the Catalan giants have tabled a £30 million bid for David Luiz, however, the report also says that Chelsea are more than likely to reject the offer for the 26 year old Brazilian.
Barca coach Tito Vilanova is believed to have turned to Luiz after having failed in his bid to land his compatriot Thiago Silva, with French Champion Paris St. Germain having rebuffed Barcelona’s advances.
The 26 year old has long been on the radar of the La Liga Champions who are in the market for some defensive reinforcements this summer. The club have decided to let go of Eric Abidal after his return from a liver transplant and with the veteran Carles Puyol approaching the twilight of his career, the Catalans need to find a suitable star to replace the duo at the heart of their defence.
Meanwhile, Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo believes that Vilanova might look to replicate Luiz’s and Silva’s international partnership at the club level too, by signing them both. A tantalizing prospect indeed.

JOHANNESBURG – The South African government said Tuesday that ailing icon Nelson Mandela remains in a “critical but stable” condition after more than one month of intensive hospital treatment.
In a statement, President Jacob Zuma thanked members of the public for their “dignified gatherings outside the hospital” in Pretoria where he was rushed June 8 and for services that have offered prayers for the 94-year-old hero.
Zuma also thanked the international community “for ongoing messages of support to Madiba and his family,” using the Nobel Peace Prize winner’s clan name.
Meanwhile friends and family offered a more upbeat assessment of Mandela’s condition.
“With less than two weeks to go before the old man’s 95th birthday on 18 July, it’s time to celebrate his life. The old man is very much alive,” said grandson Ndaba Mandela outside the hospital.
“When I speak to him he responds. Let us not be in a spirit of sadness but a spirit of celebration because the old man is still with us today.”
Granddaughters Zaziwe and Zamaswazi took to Twitter to reassure followers that Mandela was responsive.
“He is communicating with us, we are staying positive,” said the granddaughters via a joint account.
“He smiles.”
Court documents filed on behalf of the family last month described Mandela’s condition as “perilous,” with one claiming he was in a “vegetative state.”
According to friend Denis Goldberg, doctors had considered turning off his life support, but decided it was not warranted in the absence of organ failure. ( AFP)

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, (ASUU) of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, on Thursday, backed out of the ongoing general nationwide strike by the body.
However, this was not without some controversies, as two factions of the body in the institution-the ASUU led by Professor Ike Odimegwu, and the Committee of ASUU progressives, led by Professor Maduabuchi Dukor, maintained opposing positions.
Professor Dukor, who led a committee of spokespersons from his group, including Professor Edmund Egboh, Dr Achunam Nwabueze, Professor Emma Akuezuiloh and Dr Jerry Emejulu among others, said that they were standing down the strike action for now so as to complete the on-going second semester examinations in the university.
Describing the industrial action as ill-timed, the progressives noted that if UNIZIK joined the industrial action now, “it would be very suicidal to the interest of the students, parents, stakeholders and the entire university.”
They pointed out that it would negatively affect the university’s effort for accreditation in certain disciplines.
“More so, such would affect our final year law and medical students who would be prevented from attending the Nigerian Law School and housemanship programmes, respectively.”
They also disclosed readiness to join the strike action immediately after the examinations with due consultation with the stakeholders.
Dukor, however, appealed to the Federal Government to look into the demands of ASUU to restore and guarantee a conducive atmosphere for character development and learning in the universities nationwide.
